Official ABC LOST video podcast, featuring Terry O’Quinn

Terry O’Quinn talks about his character Locke and what he calls “the new embodiment of Locke.” He doesn’t call him “not” Locke or “fake” Locke, or anything like that. And he says that while his character is Smokie, he doesn’t know whether or not he is also the Man in Black. Interesting!

Then a fan asks Damon and Carlton what Damon calls a “new iteration” of the common fan question about whether the writers are making it up as they go along. This time, the question is about whether the backgammon scene in the Pilot, where Locke talked about dark and light, and good and evil, was intended to lead to where we are now. Darlton’s answer? Sort of yes, and sort of no.

LOST Untangled 6×04 “The Substitute”

This is a funny one:

Official video podcast featuring Evangeline Lilly

In this video podcast Evangeline Lilly rehashes 6×03, the Kate-centric episode, and talks about her character. Also, Damon and Carlton promise that we will see more about the numbers.

Lost University class videos — Egyptian hieroglyphics

Lost University HIS 101

Lost University HIS 101

I’ve been trying to find a way to watch the Lost University class videos without having to get a Blu-ray player. It didn’t seem possible. For a while, fans were posting them on YouTube, but Disney was pulling them down almost as fast as the fans could put them up.

But I just stumbled across a stash of the videos. I don’t know how long they will be available, so enjoy them while you can.

The two below are for the history class HIS 101 “Ancient Writing on the Wall,” which deals with Egyptian hieroglyphics (literally, “sacred script”) — the pictures we’ve seen so much of on the Island, that represent both ideas and sounds.

In the first class, Dr. Kara Cooney — Assistant Professor of Egyptian Art and Architecture at UCLA, LOST’s hieroglyphic consultant, museum curator, and major excavation team member — talks about Egyptian civilization, how hieroglyphics were used in temples and tombs, secret magical texts, and why these ancient artifacts must be preserved.

In the second class, Eric Wells, Ph.D. student of Egyptology at UCLA, discusses the meaning of some common signs (symbols) that we may actually have seen in LOST, including the ankh and bird signs. He also talks about how to read hieroglyphs, and how the writing evolved.

Official video podcast: Good versus evil

In this video podcast, Damon, Carlton, Matthew Fox (Jack), Terry O’Quinn (Locke and notLocke), Jorge Garcia (Hurley), and Josh Holloway (Sawyer) talk about the sideways flashes and about some of the large questions of the season.

The most interesting things said on the video:

On the timelines

Carlton said the two timelines are related, and the way in which they are related is one of the big mysteries of this season.

On good versus evil

Damon said that it’s all about good versus evil, and we will have to decide if Jacob is the good guy and the Man in Black the bad guy, or if they have done a “switcheroo.” Both Jacob and the MiB are going to get a chance to make their case.

Carlton echoed that it comes down to good versus evil.

My theory had been that the show wasn’t going to draw clear lines between good characters and evil characters, but instead show something more ambiguous, with characters who were neither totally good nor totally bad, but instead a mixture of both. Going from what Darlton said here, it appears that may not be the case.

We shall see.

Jorge Garcia does a podcast based on the script

Beth (Sidekick22) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley)

Beth (Sidekick22) and Jorge Garcia (Hurley)

This is funny. Jorge Garcia (Hurley) and his girlfriend Beth (Bethany James Leigh Shady, aka Sidekick22) made a podcast last summer based on their reading of the script for “LA X.”

They were trying to figure out what was going on, and they kept on saying things like “I don’t get it, I don’t get it.” “Wait, what?” Hah.

This is the first podcast in a series. You can listen to it here: Jorge Garcia podcasts 6×01-02.

For future installments, take a look at the blog they set up just to distribute the podcast: Geronimo Jack’s Beard.

Also check out Beth’s personal blog, and if you haven’t seen it already, Jorge’s.
